Day-by-Day Itinerary

  1. 1

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara

Masai Mara begins with an early collection from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel and a scenic road journey toward the reserve. The drive takes about six hours excluding planned stops. Arrive at Sarova Mara Game Camp for lunch, settle into camp, then head out on an afternoon game drive as the grasslands cool. Your guide introduces the Mara’s broad plains and looks for elephants, giraffes, lions and other wildlife before dinner and your first overnight in the reserve.

Day 2: Full day Masai Mara game drives

Masai Mara rewards an unhurried full day in the field. Leave Sarova Mara Game Camp after breakfast for a guided game drive, following fresh tracks and scanning open country, river crossings and acacia-dotted areas for wildlife. Return to camp for lunch and time to rest, then set out again in the afternoon when many animals become more active. Your driver-guide adjusts the route to sightings and conditions, giving you the strongest possible chance to experience the reserve’s scale before dinner and a second night at camp.

Day 3: Morning game drive and Nairobi return

Masai Mara offers one final early game drive this morning, when the low light and cooler air can make wildlife viewing especially rewarding. Return to Sarova Mara Game Camp for breakfast, check out and begin the road journey to Nairobi. The return drive takes about six hours excluding stops, with a comfort break and lunch arranged en route as appropriate. Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon or evening, carrying clear memories of Kenya’s best-known wildlife reserve and its wide savannah horizons.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this Masai Mara safari include?
The 3-Day Masai Mara First Safari includes two nights at Sarova Mara Game Camp, meals from lunch on day one through breakfast on day three, return road transfers from Nairobi, shared guided game drives and Masai Mara reserve entry fees scheduled in the itinerary. International flights, visas, drinks, balloon flights, gratuities and personal purchases are not included.
When is the best time for a Masai Mara safari?
Masai Mara is rewarding throughout the year. July to October is the classic Great Migration period, when visitor demand is highest. January to June can offer excellent wildlife viewing at a lower seasonal price. Proven Adventures recommends confirming your travel priorities first, whether that is migration activity, quieter game drives or school-holiday timing.
What are Masai Mara park fees for non-residents?
For 2026, non-resident Masai Mara entry is USD 100 per adult per day from January through June and USD 200 per adult per day from July through December. Children aged 9 to 17 pay USD 50 per day year-round, while children aged 8 and under enter free. These conservation fees are reflected in the applicable package price.
What is the child policy for Masai Mara?
This package publishes child prices for travellers aged 9 to 17 because that is the Masai Mara child-fee age band. Children aged 8 and under do not pay reserve entry, but accommodation, meals and vehicle seating still need to be arranged. Proven Adventures will confirm the best family room and final quote before booking.
How do I get from Nairobi to Masai Mara?
The safari uses return road transfers between Nairobi and Masai Mara. The drive is about six hours each way, excluding comfort, meal and wildlife-viewing stops. Guests arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport should plan an early arrival or add a Nairobi night if their flight timing does not allow a comfortable morning departure.
Is there a single supplement for solo travellers?
The listed per-person safari prices are based on two guests sharing accommodation. A solo traveller can book the same route, but a single supplement applies because Sarova Mara Game Camp room costs are shared differently. Proven Adventures will provide the supplement with availability for your chosen dates before any payment is requested.
Do I need a visa for Kenya?
Kenya entry and visa rules depend on your passport and may change. Proven Adventures can advise on planning documents, but every traveller should confirm the current requirements through the official Kenyan immigration channels before departure. Your passport should also meet the validity requirements of your airline and destination authorities.
How do I book with Proven Adventures?
To book this Masai Mara safari with Proven Adventures, send your preferred dates, number of travellers, room arrangement and international arrival details. Our team will check Sarova Mara Game Camp availability, confirm the correct 2026 season price and share a booking confirmation with payment terms and the final departure plan.
